I have created a project from my trip to Sacramento where I did in fact get to document the birth of my nephew. It's hard to describe the experience, so I made a slideshow to capture the emotion. As we know, a picture is worth more than words.
It is for everyone! Don't worry about graphic content.
Please take the time to view by:
~ choosing large (best) or small (if you have to),
~ wait for slideshow to download (go ahead and grab some tissues at this time),
~ turn up the volume (even better with headphones),
~ press play, and don't be afraid if you start to feel achy in your chest.
This is my first slideshow of this genre, so I'd love to know what you think!

Ok -- I totally cried. I was even feeling phantom labor pains. Very nice, Minna. What a lucky baby to have his birth so well documented.
On a side note: Abigail, Grace, and Miles watched it with me, which led to a premature discussion of the birds and the bees. I kept it very, very general, but Abby no longer wants to have babies.
What a lovely remembrance for this family to enjoy through the years.
You thought of everything.....the CD, the monitor readout, the IV, the ink-covered little foot...
The music was lovely, too.
I can't wait to see this! I'll have to do it tomorrow, though. I've been waiting 15 minutes and we've got DSL at work, so it will have to wait til tomorrow.
*sigh*
Hi Minna! This is Danielle, Carrie's nurse. I just wanted to tell you I am so impressed by your work and how beautiful the entire slide show turned out! What a beautiful family you guys have! Thank you for sharing your creativity. I was really excited to see your blog and all of the amazing photography. Hope all is well!
I should have read more closely - I didn't grab tissues! Beautiful.
I love your photography! I did NOT think I would cry at this, but, oh boy, I did.
wow...that was a blast from the past for me. i had the first waterbirth at u of Chicago hospital, the 2nd one in the city of Chicago (at least in a hospital)...and though it's not documented like this, your images sure did a quick recall of an amazing experience. i don't know anyone else who has had a waterbirth. so cool to watch. your commenters sum up your artistic abilities far better than anything i could say. what a beautiful gift.
